The Ho Bee Professorship was established in partnership with Singapore Management University in 2007 and was redefined in March 2023 as the Ho Bee Professorship in Sustainability Management. This Professorship is dedicated to advancing research and thought leadership in sustainability, with a focus on fostering long-term social and environmental well-being.
A strong advocate of environmental responsibility, Ho Bee Land integrates sustainable practices into its developments and operations, aligning with global standards in corporate governance. Their commitment to shaping a greener future aligns seamlessly with the goals of this Professorship and SMU’s broader vision in sustainability.
The Ho Bee Luminary Speaker Series in Sustainability, which featured Georg Kell, Chairman of the Board of Arabesque, as its inaugural speaker in 2024, is part of Ho Bee Land’s partnership with SMU under the Ho Bee Professorship in Sustainability Management. Through this collaboration, Ho Bee Land supports dialogue, research, and education in sustainability, and has also backed initiatives such as the Nature Finance Conference and the GRASFI Conference.
This year introduces a new student engagement component— the Sustainability Case Challenge. Open to SMU students as well as undergraduates and postgraduates from other local universities, the Challenge offers a platform for young minds to generate innovative solutions for a sustainable future. This year, the Series will host Dr. Mari Elka Pangestu, the former Minister of Trade in Indonesia and former Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships for World Bank. She commands over 30 years of experience working across international trade, investment and development in multilateral, regional and national settings, and will shed key insights into the prospects (and challenges) of sustainable development within developing economies.
Ho Bee Land has been generously sponsoring several events related to sustainability that we organise, including the Nature Finance Conference and the GRASFI Conference. Our longstanding partnership with Ho Bee Land continues to spark impactful conversations and thought leadership by convening global experts through impactful initiatives such as the Ho Bee Luminary Speaker Series.
