Investor action is slowly aligning with the goals and targets of a Global Biodiversity Framework that seeks to halt the loss of nature and biodiversity. Most of the world’s largest companies are also significantly dependent on nature in their operations and are starting to see a business case for prioritizing nature-positive policies. Latest estimates find that 55 per cent of global gross domestic product (GDP), equivalent to about US$58 trillion, is moderately or highly dependent on nature.
Home to some of the world’s richest biodiversity hotspots, Asia is well-positioned to be a leader and first-mover in biodiversity conservation action.
This one-hour briefing will discuss advancing the financing of nature in Asia, including:
- A media scan of the key nature and biodiversity topics gaining traction in the region
- Challenges and opportunities for nature financing and policies from an Asian perspective
- How companies can manage nature-related risks and tap on nature-based solutions, including the application of the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework
- The intricacies of policy development on nature-based solutions in the region
