Agung kickstarted his journey as an ecosociopreneur by founding Surplus in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2020 in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. Surplus is an app-based marketplace that enables local food businesses, hotels, and farms to sell their overstock and, or imperfect products as it approaches the end of its shelf-life to customers at 50% or more in order to avoid edible or untouched meals from becoming food waste that end up in the landfill.
To date, Surplus has rescued more than 5000 meals equivalent to 1 ton of food across 8 cities and avoided the emissions of roughly 30 tonnes of CO2 in just a year and a half.
Also, during the pandemic COVID-19, we help the business owner to be more resilient & financially recover for their business to survive by selling their overstock/imperfect product during the restriction movement that occurred. The potential financial loss around $5,000.
