Mrinalini Rai

Founder & Director, Women4Biodiversity

Mrinalini is a dedicated advocate for women's rights and environmental justice, with expertise in policy, advocacy, and research that addresses the intersectionality of human rights, gender equality, and environmental governance. As an Indigenous woman, she advocates for the rights of Indigenous Peoples, and local communities, prioritizing the advancement of women and youth in environmental decision-making processes. With a strong commitment to fostering collaboration with biodiversity-related Multilateral Environment Agreements, she has spent several years working to enhance the integration of human rights and gender considerations within the decisions and outcomes of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD). She also played a key role in establishing and fortifying strengthening the CBD Women's Caucus to facilitate access to information, active participation, representation, and input for women's rights organizations within the UNCBD policy space.

Mrinalini holds a Master of Arts in Social Science and Sustainable Development (MASS) from Chiang Mai University in Thailand.
