Director, Rumah Group
Kathlyn is a Director of family office Rumah Group and its philanthropic arm, Rumah Foundation where she leads the family’s environmental portfolio. Having developed a deep love and respect for the ocean and marine life over years of scuba diving and freediving, she is passionate about business sustainability and ocean protection. In 2017, she launched Rumah's environmental portfolio, which works to contribute towards a clean and vibrant ocean through impact investments and philanthropy; and is active in shaping Rumah’s approach to sustainable investing. She is also a communications and sustainability practitioner, working across areas such as decarbonisation, sustainable procurement and corporate reporting in the built environment sector.
Kathlyn currently serves as a Board Trustee of Conservation International Singapore, Board Director of The Good Food Institute Singapore, member of the Technical Advisory Panel for Sustainable Finance Institute Asia, member of the Advisory Boards for the Regenerative Fund for Nature and Eco-Business, as well as Co-Founder of Coastal Natives, which aims to increase ocean awareness and inspire new ocean lovers and conservationists. Previously, Kathlyn served as an Ambassador for international non-profit organisation, Project AWARE, and was a member of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment’s inaugural Citizens’ Workgroup.
A certified scuba divemaster, freediving athlete and amateur underwater photographer, Kathlyn draws inspiration from the ocean and marine life, and loves sharing the underwater world with those who may not have the opportunity to experience it. She is a two-time Singapore freediving National Record holder for Dynamic with Bi-Fins (DYNB) and Dynamic No Fins (DNF).
The daughter of a humanitarian, she grew up providing volunteer support for needs assessments and community development efforts in the field, and was recognised by Tatler as a 2020 Gen.T Honouree for her work in sustainability. Kathlyn graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Economics and a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Public Relations. She has completed courses with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and is trained in GRI sustainability reporting.
