Country Representative, Philippines Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI)
Mr. Juhern Kim is the Country Representative, Philippines of the Global Green Growth Institute – a treaty-based inter-governmental organization, headquartered in Seoul, Republic of Korea. His professional focuses are to inject sustainability agenda into policy development, originate investment projects that generate economic, environmental, and social returns, and mobilize finance for them working with public and private investors. All of them are anchored in accelerating implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals.
Since 2012, as one of the founding staff of the Institute, he has been serving several roles in emerging economies, including Cambodia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Vietnam, and the Philippines, where he led projects across sectors including renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, sustainable transport, circular economy, and forest management. He was also seconded to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) with the task of supporting operationalization of the SAP funding window where he led development of its technical guidelines tailored to various sectors, such renewable energy and transport.
Prior to joining GGGI, he worked at the UN Environment, ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center, the Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB), and Corporation 2020 initiative, where he learned both public and private, and policy and industry perspectives on greening economic sectors. On top of that, he has a particular passion on nurturing entrepreneurs, by co-initiating Greenpreneurs – a global platform designed to support youth entrepreneurs in developing world through coaching, mentoring, peer competition, and seed capital provision. He has been also sitting at the advisory board of the several institutions, such an impact investment firm and a university, while writing and lecturing sustainability and ESG topics.
He completed the Executive Education at Yale School of Management (Certificate), graduated from Yonsei Graduate School of International Studies (Master’s Degree) and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Bachelor’s Dual Degree). He also completed the International Environment Expert Training Program hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Republic of Korea. He is a basketball/baseball player and non-fiction writer, married with son and daughter.
