Eric Ku is the Asia Pacific Lead for GeSI Digital With Purpose (DWP) and AI with Purpose (AIWP) Accelerator. Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) with its HQ based in Belgium is a leading, cross-industry sustainability initiative creating and enabling digital solutions to address society’s most pressing challenges.
Eric Ku started his contribution to the Green ICT with his involvement with ITU SG5.
He has been a judge for the APICTA (Asia Pacific ICT Alliance) Sustainability and Environment category for the last 5 years.
Eric Ku has been in the business of revolutionizing talent development in the Asian region for over two decades. A serial entrepreneur with several flagship businesses under his belt, Eric is the co-founder of iTrain Asia (www.iTrainAsia.com) a regional Digital Talent Accelerator (DTA) with its HQ in Singapore that is currently rolling out its vendor-neutral industry-validated certification trainings to individuals, corporates and academic institutions throughout 31 countries in Asia. It has trained and certified more then 100,000 professionals to date.
iTrain Asia launch one of the country 1st micro-credentials – microdegree program (https://www.itrainasia.com/microdegree) to reskill non-tech graduate/professional for tech jobs. The micro-credentials program adopted extreme employability concept that ensure all its graduates get high value job via its train-and-place model. iTrain Asia is has also launch Asia AI Academy, dedicated to developing top AI talent in the region
Beyond developing professional digital talents, Eric Ku believes in the longer-term vision of building digital literacy skills from young; having set up a coding tech playground for kids called iTrain Kids (www.itrainkids.com) which teaches students ages 7 to 16 the basics of programming and how to bring their creative ideas to life. Over 10,000 children have learnt to become coders and makers of various apps, games, websites and more since the establishment of iTrain Kids.
Eric Ku continues encouraging and accelerating the development of other entrepreneurs like himself as co-founding partner of 1337 Ventures (www.1337.ventures), an accelerator and early-stage venture capital firm in South-East-Asia focused on scaling startups from idea to being valued as a multi-million-dollar company in less than 10 months. 1337 won Best Accelerator in SEA at Asean Rice Bowl Startup Awards in 2019.
Eric Ku began his career with a Singapore-based bank and subsequently worked as the Head of IT with a public listed company, where he supervised teams located in 8 branches across 6 cities. Another notable achievement early on in his career includes being awarded as Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for his contribution to Microsoft Technologies by Microsoft Corporation USA for 9 consecutive years and has been invited by Microsoft to speak at the regional annual TechEd conference.
Lately, Eric Ku was awarded ASOCIO best ESG Award via SGTech Singapore for its contribution to Diversity and Inclusion effort, iTrain Asia extend its Digital Talent Accelerator (DTA) program to Women and Children including the under-privileged groups such as refugee and special needs school.
