Acting Executive Director of ASEAN Centre of Energy
Beni Suryadi is Deputy Executive Director at the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), an intergovernmental organisation within the ASEAN structure representing the 10 ASEAN Member States’ interests in the energy sector.
He is an energy professional with 12+ years of experience in managing programs and conducting research on energy and climate change, supporting the governments of 10 countries in Southeast Asia to build climate-friendly development of the energy sector under the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) Phase 2: 2021-2025. He was the Team Leader in developing the ASEAN Energy Outlook – an ACE’s flagship publication on the regional energy trends and projections regularly presented at the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting.
He is currently leading ASEAN's energy projects with the U.S., China, India, Norway, and international development agencies, overseeing over $10 million in projects’ portfolios, including the ASEAN Interconnection Masterplan Study (AIMS) III; the regional blueprint for electricity interconnection in the region under the ASEAN Power Grid (APG). He is also the Project Manager of the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT), the first official ASEAN project that integrates the issue of energy and climate change. Endorsed by the ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting, the project improves the coherence between the ASEAN energy and climate policies and contributes to more climate-friendly development of the energy sector.
