Day 2 of the Unlocking Capital for Sustainability (UCFS) Malaysia event will feature a forward-looking briefing session on emerging ESG trends and a documentary film on the waste crisis, designed to equip decision-makers with the tools and perspective to drive meaningful sustainability action.
Session 1: Sharpening the ESG Focus 2025 Briefing– Malaysia
The morning will begin with a technical deep dive into the fast-evolving ESG landscape across Asia, with a focus on Malaysia.
Titled Sharpening the ESG Focus 2025, the session—led by Eco-Business—will provide participants with critical updates on ESG regulations, disclosure frameworks and strategies to integrate ESG into business performance.
With 2025 set to be a defining year, especially in the wake of COP29—the first-ever “Finance COP”—this session will highlight key trends in sustainable finance, climate tech and the rollout of ISSB standards.
Attendees will be equipped to engage confidently on ESG issues in an increasingly complex and dynamic environment.
Session 2: WASTED Impact Documentary Screening
In the afternoon, the agenda shifts from ESG frameworks to real-world impact with the screening of WASTED, Eco-Business’s award-winning documentary on the global waste crisis.
Updated to reflect the outcomes of the 2024 UN negotiations on a global plastic treaty in Busan, the film will offer a sobering yet inspiring look at Asia’s mounting waste problem. Through cinematic visuals and personal narratives, WASTED will explore the connections between waste, human health and the climate crisis—while also posing critical questions: Why are we wasting opportunities to solve this issue, and what can we do differently?
The screening will be followed by an expert-led dialogue featuring industry voices and community leaders, who will explore policy gaps, infrastructure challenges and immediate actions to strengthen Malaysia’s waste management systems.
Together, both sessions will offer an immersive and thought-provoking experience—one that sharpens ESG perspectives while encouraging participants to reimagine systems for a cleaner, more resilient future.
